Austin Hatcher Foundation Names Gary Bennett Senior Vice President of Major Gifts

  • Longtime Barrett-Jackson VP to Bolster AHF Fundraising Efforts, Raise Visibility

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2017) – Gary Bennett, former longtime executive with Barrett-Jackson collector car auctions, has been named the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s Senior Vice President of Major Gifts. In his new role, Bennett will provide support and advocacy in efforts to increase fundraising, sponsorship and overall awareness for the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s ever-expanding programs and services.

Bennett retired from his position as Barrett-Jackson’s Vice President of Consignment in May. After joining the organization in 2002, Bennett led the organization’s consignment, bidder, guest services, and insurance departments. He played a major role in the dramatic growth of the company’s sales while also leading the expansion of the auction event schedule. Bennett also was responsible for securing and maintaining major sponsorship deals with Ford Motor Company, General Motors (2004), Chrysler/Dodge and others, collectively raising the profile of the distinctive Barrett-Jackson brand – “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions” – both nationally and internationally.

“Gary’s contribution to the success of Barrett-Jackson has been invaluable,” Barrett-Jackson President Steve Jackson said when Bennett’s retirement was announced. “His knowledge, experience and sincerity made him a very special guy.”

Bennett was also heavily involved in Barrett-Jackson’s extensive charitable efforts, furthering his synergy with the Austin Hatcher Foundation.

“Gary is bringing a strong, respected voice of advocacy on our behalf, at a time when we truly need such a voice,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “Our programs and services are provided to young cancer patients and their families at no cost. With the recent opening of our new headquarters and Education Advancement Center we are amid a dramatic expansion of those programs and services. Support from donors and sponsors is vital. Gary Bennett can help us garner that support.

“Everyone at the foundation congratulates Gary – and welcomes him – as he enters into this new position with us.”
