CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (Jan. 27, 2017) – The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) was presented the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Founders Club Award on Friday at Daytona International Speedway, in recognition for helping raise more than $2.3 million to benefit the foundation since 2009.
That amount dates to when the Austin Hatcher Foundation became the Official Charity of the American Le Mans Series. The foundation became a Proud Charity of IMSA in 2014 when the American Le Mans Series merged with the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and became the IMSA-sanctioned WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The $2.3 million includes $438,000 that IMSA and WeatherTech help raise in 2016.
The award was presented to IMSA President Scott Atherton during a press conference on Friday during which the foundation announced future plans for expanding its unique services that benefit young cancer patients and their families.
“Our partners mean everything to us and IMSA is one of our most important partners,” said Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “Scott Atherton and everyone in his organization provide us support and friendship. This award is well-deserved.”
