Austin Hatcher Foundation Joining International Motorsports Association For Season-Ending Event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

October 16, 2020

  • Virtual and At-Track Fundraising Auctions to Benefit Foundation

  • More Than 100 Pediatric Cancer Patients and Family Members Attending

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 16, 2020) – This weekend, the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will have its annual premium showcase experience as an official “Proud Charity” for the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), during IMSA’s season-ending event, the world-renowned Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.

Saturday’s Motul Petit Le Mans, one of the top sports car races in North America, is a 10-hour endurance race during the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The foundation will benefit from three fundraising auctions during the weekend.

  • On Friday morning at the Austin Hatcher Foundation tent, a special silent auction will begin, with a 6 p.m. conclusion on Saturday. All bids are placed using a touch-free bidding system, and individuals who are unable to attend the race can still bid and win items.

  • On Saturday morning, artist Roger Warrick will begin a “live” painting of a Corvette at the Austin Hatcher Foundation tent. At 6 p.m. on Saturday, the painting will be auctioned.

  • On Saturday at 9 p.m., artist Bill Patterson will begin a virtual “live” painting that may be viewed on his Facebook page at http://facebook.com/billpattart#. Bids may be placed online at https://bidpal.net/petit20# until Thursday, Oct. 22 when Patterson will begin a final “live” show on Facebook at 9 p.m. to put the finishing touches on the artwork and complete the auction.

The silent auction hosted by the foundation is an addition to the always busy Motul Petit Le Mans slate of activities. Items available include artwork, memorabilia, used sports car parts, and autographed racing gear. For more information on the items and the silent auction, visit https://bidpal.net/petit20#

As part of its Diversionary Therapy division, the foundation will also host more than 100 individuals at the track Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These individuals come from nine cities across three states and are all pediatric cancer patients, survivors, and their family members. Families will be able to enjoy the excitement of the race, along with specialized activities and games organized by the foundation.

“It is so wonderful to be back at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for this special event, even though some activities look a little different with COVID-19,” said the foundation’s president, Amy Jo Osborn. “This has been a special place since the early years of the foundation, and we’re thrilled to attend as a Proud Charity of IMSA. With the support of IMSA, teams and drivers, our artists, and corporate partners, this weekend is able to be a successful fundraising opportunity for the foundation and a much-needed respite for our families.”
