CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Nov. 26, 2019) – The reach and spirit of “GivingTuesday,” a global generosity movement, will extend to the Chattanooga region next week as the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will benefit from donations by area restaurants.
The eighth annual GivingTuesday is set for Dec. 3. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 with a simple founding concept: a day that encourages people to do good things. GivingTuesday, designated as the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, now annually involves hundreds of millions of people, inspiring them to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
The Austin Hatcher Foundation has partnered with four local restaurants for GivingTuesday; each restaurant will donate a portion of all sales from that day to the foundation. A total of 13 restaurant locations are participating.
The restaurant lineup:
Lupi’s Pizza Pies in downtown Chattanooga, Hixson, Cleveland, Ooltewah and East Brainerd.
Maple Street Biscuit Company on Gunbarrel Road.
Panera Bread in downtown Chattanooga, Gunbarrel, Northgate Mall, Cleveland, Fort Oglethorpe and Dalton.
Rosselli’s Pizzeria in Ooltewah.
“We want to offer special and sincere thanks to the four local restaurants partnering with us on this project and taking our mission to heart,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “People interested in supporting us can, in addition to patronizing these establishments next Tuesday, also donate directly on our website.”
GivingTuesday, the biggest generosity effort in history, will involve more than 200 local initiatives throughout the United States and 60 individual countries. In seven years, GivingTuesday has raised more than $1 billion online in the U.S. alone.
