CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 21, 2024) - The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is excited to announce the return of its “LaCROSSE Out Cancer” fundraiser game with the Lee University Women’s Lacrosse team, presented by Food City. This exciting event is set to kick off on Sunday, April 7, 2024, as the women’s team hosts Lander University at the Ray Conn Sports Complex at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

This event will be a collaborative effort to raise awareness and funds for families facing the effects of pediatric cancer, complete with restaurant give-back nights, t-shirt sales, and the Sunday lacrosse game against Lander University. Proceeds will go to help families facing childhood cancer through the Austin Hatcher Foundation, a local nonprofit with a national reach that provides comprehensive coordinated care such as therapy, counseling, neuropsychological testing, family programs, camps, and more for families facing childhood cancer. All of the mental and behavioral health services at the Foundation are 100%-free and provided by a licensed clinical team to the entire family.

"As a pediatric cancer survivor myself and coach, I'm thrilled for our 2nd annual 'LaCROSSE Out Cancer' game with the Austin Hatcher Foundation,” said Lee lacrosse coach Megan Smith. “This game is about playing for a bigger purpose and everyone on the team is grateful to be a part of it.”

The LaCROSSe Out Cancer game is an event that benefits the Foundation in two ways: it raises funds and awareness for the cause while also providing a fun and engaging activity for children and families supported by the Foundation. During the event, the children will have the chance to walk onto the field with the players for special recognition, and the whole family can enjoy a memorable evening of food, fun, and lacrosse. The Lee lacrosse team will also be wearing special jerseys featuring select Foundation children's names. These jerseys will be auctioned after the game to help raise money for the Austin Hatcher Foundation to continue to provide free comprehensive, coordinated care to families affected by childhood cancer.

There will be two giveback nights before the game, where proceeds from select restaurants and businesses will be donated to the Austin Hatcher Foundation. Dos Bros in Cleveland will host a giveback on April 2, from 3-9 p.m., but you must mention “Lacrosse Out Cancer” when ordering. Whit’s Custard will host a giveback on April 3rd all day, where a portion of all proceeds will go to the Foundation.

Along with these give-back nights, the Lee University women’s lacrosse team is selling t-shirts and raising funds to support the Foundation. These shirts are gray with the new “Lacrosse Out Cancer” logo on the front. You can message @Leeuwlax on Instagram or Lee University Women’s Lacrosse on Facebook to purchase your shirt!

The event is open to the public, and donations can be made at https://p2p.onecause.com/p4p2024/megan-smith-24. All proceeds from the event, t-shirt sales, and giveback nights will go directly to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. The LaCROSSe Out Cancer event is presented by Food City. Other sponsors include WCLE Mix 104.1 and Rock Bridge Community Church.
