What is Playing for Purpose?
Playing for Purpose is an easy "Do It Yourself" initiative that can be started by ANY sports team (no matter the location, division, sport, affiliation, etc.) that has a passion for philanthropy. The Austin Hatcher Foundation has created a hosting site that any sports team can use for a "giveback game," and each team can customize it however they'd like. There are no minimum fundraising goals, no deadlines, and endless opportunities for how your team can give back.

LaCROSSe Out Cancer & Kickin It

Kickin' It for Kids with Cancer
For the past 18 years, the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer has partnered with the women's soccer team at Lee University to host "Kickin' It for Kids with Cancer," a fundraiser that also doubles as a fun night out for the families the foundation serves in the Chattanooga and Cleveland TN area. This event raises funds and awareness to support families facing childhood cancer, while also providing them with a special and memorable evening of fun, food, and soccer. In the weeks preceding the event, the team helps raise money by selling special shirts to be worn at the game and in the community.
LaCROSSe Out Cancer
In 2025, individuals from families affected by childhood cancer came out to the 3rd annual LaCROSSe Out Cancer game at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. This community event, presented by Food City, brought together parents, siblings, survivors, and diagnosed children for an afternoon of fellowship, games, food, and fun. The event served as a day of community for these affected families as well as a fundraiser for the Austin Hatcher Foundation.
