Austin Hatcher Foundation Returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca For Fundraising Auction Amid Cl

  • Raceway’s Official Artist Bill Patterson to Prepare a ‘Live Painting’ for Auction

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2019) – One of auto racing’s most scenic – and spectacular – settings will be the backdrop this weekend for the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s latest fundraising efforts, during the Monterey SportsCar Championships at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

The race is the penultimate event on the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) 2019 schedule and continues the foundation’s season-long visibility as an official “Proud Charity” of IMSA, the nation’s largest sports car racing sanctioning body, located in Daytona Beach, Florida. Throughout each season, the Austin Hatcher Foundation benefits from various partnerships within the sport, via at-track auctions of artwork, photography and various sports car racing memorabilia.

“Which means the many young cancer patients – and their family members – who participate in the foundation’s programs are the ones benefiting,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn.

The partner at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca – a majestic 11-turn 2.238-mile road racing circuit located on the California central coast – is the fan enthusiast area for Porsche. At the Porscheplatz, another valuable partnership will come into play. Renowned “Motionsports” artist Bill Patterson will prepare a “live” painting for auction Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. with the auction starting at 11 a.m. to raise funds for the foundation.Patterson is the Official Artist of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, but that is only part of his résumé. His work is regularly commissioned by private and corporate clients; he has performed “live paintings’ internationally for corporations such as Honda, Firestone, IBM, FedEx, Microsoft, Lamborghini, and Lincoln. In addition to racing, Patterson has also produced works for tennis, hockey, skiing, soccer and sailing.

“Bill is primarily known for his racing-related paintings, but he also needs to be known as one of the best friends the Austin Hatcher Foundation has had through the years,” Osborn said. “He has donated so much of his time to help our mission of erasing the effects of pediatric cancer. His at-track appearances are highly anticipated and he brings some added excitement to our fundraising activities.”

The final round of 2019 IMSA-related activities for the Austin Hatcher Foundation will take place in conjunction with the IMSA season finale on Oct. 9-12 – the Motul Petit Le Mans at the famed Road Atlanta circuit in Braselton, Georgia.
