CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2018) – The first vehicle created as part of the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s unique  recovery therapies will be crossing the block at Lot 9001 on Nov. 17 at the Dallas Fall Leake Auto Auction held at the Dallas Market Hall in Dallas. The DP Brands authorized one-of-one 2017 HURST Jeep Commando will sell at “no-reserve” with 100% of the money raised returning to the foundation to support recovery therapies.

The Austin Hatcher Foundation is noted for innovation and uniqueness when it comes to fundraising.

“This project certainly keeps that tradition going,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn.

The adventure-ready Jeep was provided by Mt. View Auto Group in Chattanooga, Tenn. The final product is the result of extensive modifications undertaken this year by the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s Industrial Arts program/therapies, with young cancer patients and their families as the main laborers. There also was strong support from DP Brands, Rugged Ridge/OMIX-ADA, BFGoodrich tires, Wastegate Technologies and Wizards Products. Truck ‘N Trailers USA in Chattanooga, Tenn. hosted the build-out.

Rugged Ridge/Omix-ADA is the world’s largest independent manufacturer and wholesale-only company with a full line of Jeep parts and accessories. Rugged Ridge/Omix-ADA is based in Suwanee, Georgia and has been a longtime supporter of the SEMA Cares family of charities, which includes the Austin Hatcher Foundation. Truck ‘N Trailers USA is a SEMA member.

The HURST Jeep Commando was completed earlier this year and was on display with Rugged Ridge/OMIX-ADA at last week’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Previously this year, the vehicle was also displayed at the Jeep Fest in Toledo, Ohio, Jeep Jam in Wilmington, Ohio, the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and the Medco Tool Customer Appreciation Show in Philadelphia. Feature stories on the vehicle have appeared in Jeepers International Magazine, the Rugged Ridge blog, Hemmings Motor News, ToprquedMag.com and Off Road Plus.

All proceeds from the auctioning of the 2017 HURST Jeep Commando will benefit the foundation’s various programs and services that are provided at no cost to pediatric cancer patients and family members.

“Partnerships that are also lasting friendships – those are what made this fundraising concept become reality,” Osborn said. “This was an amazing project to witness taking place. The involvement of the children and their families made this extra-special. Whoever ends up with this unique HURST Jeep Commando will have a wonderful story to tell.”
