Austin Hatcher Foundation Returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca For Fundraising Auction Featuri

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (Sept 5, 2018) – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the historic road racing circuit in Monterey, California, will be the site of a fundraising auction on Sunday to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, amid an exciting IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) race weekend.

The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Featuring America’s Tire 250 is the penultimate event on the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule. Throughout this season, the Austin Hatcher Foundation has been involved in various events, befitting its status as an official “Proud Charity” of IMSA. The WeatherTech Championship season concludes next month in Braselton, Georgia, at the Road Atlanta circuit.

The auction – set for 12:15 p.m. (local/PT) at the Porsche Corral enthusiast area – will involve a longtime friend of the foundation, acclaimed artist Bill Patterson, the official artist for WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.  Patterson’s expertise is unique “motionsports” works. His “live” paintings are produced same-day and on-site, capturing the inherent excitement of a major motorsports scene.

Patterson is best known for his auto racing paintings but has also done motionsports works for sports such as tennis, hockey, skiing, soccer and sailing. He also has done specially commissioned work for private and corporate clients such as Honda, Firestone, IBM, FedEx, Microsoft, Lamborghini, and Lincoln.

“WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is always welcoming to the foundation and Bill Patterson is always ready to assist our efforts,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation Amy Jo Osborn. “Likewise, the Porsche Corral can always be counted on for support. Our long-running partnerships within motorsports, like those on display this weekend, are vital – and cherished.

“Thanks to IMSA, the foundation has benefited from a fantastic lineup of opportunities this year to showcase our mission to erase the effects of pediatric cancer.”
