CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 5, 2020) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s signature event, the 13th annual Celebration of Life and Hope, will be held virtually on Saturday at 8 p.m. via livestream at celebrationlh.com.

The one-hour live broadcast will include a live auction, patient and family testimonials, and a tour of the new 33,000-square foot Education Advancement Center. There will also be a silent auction taking place online leading up to the event. Bids can be made at www.bidpal.net/clh20.

The Celebration of Life and Hope occurs annually as a way to showcase the work of the Austin Hatcher Foundation for its patients and their families every day. Now in its 13th year, the Celebration of Life and Hope may look different, but it promises to be one of the most inspiring events yet with the introduction of a new honoree, Simone Otterman.

The co-chairs of this event, Mike and Traci Otterman, lost their daughter Simone, “Sim”, to side effects of leukemia treatment when she was just over 2 years old.

“We wanted to honor Sim this year at the Celebration of Life and Hope, which is why we chose the theme “Building Dreams, Healing Hearts,” said Traci Otterman. “The foundation helps build a better future for survivors and families, while also healing the hearts that are broken by pediatric cancer.”

Although the event is happening virtually due to COVID-19, the foundation continues to provide its families with no-cost services during this difficult time. The foundation is offering both telehealth and in-person therapies as necessary to meet its patients’ and families’ needs, among other vital services.

“The Celebration of Life and Hope is going virtual this year, but our goals remain the same,” said Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn, “We want to educate the community and raise funds for our fight against the horrible effects of childhood cancer. Support is more vital than ever this year due to COVID-19, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to share our mission.”

Textile Rubber and Chemicals returns as the presenting sponsor of this year’s event. The event is also sponsored by platinum sponsor Lodge Cast Iron and gold sponsor Lawson Winchester Wealth Management. Additionally, the event’s silver sponsors include Cigna, Comprehensive Spine Institute, First Horizon Foundation, Vascular Institute of Chattanooga, and Kelly Subaru.

The Celebration of Life and Hope media partnerships include Brewer Media, CityScope Magazine, HealthScope Magazine, EPB Fiber Optics, Plainview Outdoor Advertising, and US 101.

The Austin Hatcher Foundation’s mission is to erase the effects of pediatric cancer, and the Celebration of Life and Hope is just one integral step in reaching that goal.
