  • Virtual and At-Track Fundraising Auctions to Benefit Foundation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 31, 2020) – After a brief pause due to COVID-19, the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer proudly returns this week to the famed Road America racing circuit in scenic Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, as an official “Proud Charity” of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).

The foundation will benefit from three fundraising auctions during the weekend, which is highlighted by Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event. Those auctions:

  • On Friday morning at the Austin Hatcher Foundation tent, a special silent auction will begin, with a 5 p.m. conclusion on Sunday. All bids are placed using a touch-free bidding system, and individuals who are unable to attend the race can still bid and win items.
  • On Saturday at noon, artist Roger Warrick will begin a “live” painting of a Corvette at the Austin Hatcher Foundation tent. At noon on Sunday, the painting will be auctioned.
  • On Sunday at 9 p.m., artist Bill Patterson will begin a virtual “live” painting that may be viewed on his Facebook page at http://facebook.com/billpattart. Bids may be placed by texting (210) 901-9412 until Wednesday, August 5 at 8 p.m.

The silent auction hosted by the foundation is an addition to the always busy Road America slate of activities. Items available include artwork, memorabilia, used sports car parts, and autographed racing gear. For more information on the items and the silent auction, visit https://bidpal.net/roadamerica20.

“This week marks our much-anticipated return to motorsports after the pandemic put our activities on hold,” said the foundation’s president, Amy Jo Osborn. “As an IMSA Proud Charity, we feel honored to have the opportunity to attend this race weekend as we showcase our mission to erase the effects of pediatric cancer. We’re grateful to all teams who donated items to our silent auction and to our artists, who are an integral part of our fundraising efforts as well.”
