First Horizon Foundation Invests in Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s Mission

First Horizon grants enable nonprofit to provide critical support to families battling childhood cancer effects

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 21, 2023) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is pleased to announce that it has received $15,000 in two grants from the First Horizon Foundation. These grants will enable the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer to further help families cope in the present and thrive in the future after childhood cancer, all at no cost.

“We are so thankful to the First Horizon Foundation for their generosity,” said Amy Jo Osborn, CEO and co-founder of the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “This gift is essential in helping the Austin Hatcher Foundation as we’re facilitating both family growth and survival through the crises generated by pediatric cancer. AHF’s family centered care is provided at no cost through ongoing multidisciplinary approaches, and we could not provide these services without partners like First Horizon.”

The First Horizon Foundation is the presenting sponsor of The Moth Ball by CityScope®, and therefore gives $10,000 to the Austin Hatcher Foundation as the Moth Ball’s 2023 nonprofit beneficiary. In addition to this $10,000 grant, the First Horizon Foundation is also sponsoring AHF’s signature fundraiser, the Celebration of Life and Hope at $5,000. The annual Celebration of Life and Hope is a semi-formal cocktail reception held on September 30 this year, attended by hundreds of local leaders and supporters of the Austin Hatcher mission.

100% of the funds from the sponsorships go to providing comprehensive coordinated care to families facing the effects of childhood cancer. AHF provides services to not only diagnosed children, but their parents and siblings too. Services include individual/family counseling, occupational therapy, music and art therapy, marriage counseling, grief support, tutoring, neurocognitive testing, family programs and more.

“The work done by the Austin Hatcher Foundation is critical to families experiencing some of the darkest days of their lives,” said Jay Dale, Market President at First Horizon Bank of Greater Chattanooga. “First Horizon Foundation is honored to walk alongside Austin Hatcher in supporting the important work that makes life a little easier for the families they serve.”

The Austin Hatcher Foundation addresses the unmet need of mental health and well-being for the entire family at the onset of pediatric cancer. The Foundation’s Education Advancement Center is the nation's only psychosocial center that offers no-cost, evidence-based mental health services and supportive care to children affected by childhood cancer and their entire family.
