CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 6, 2023) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer raised over $80,000 at their annual golf tournament “Monday Before the Masters” on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Sweetens Cove Golf Club. Despite the rainy weather, seventeen foursome groups played in the fundraiser tournament, with the winning foursome coming in at an impressive 22-under par. On the Monday of the Master’s Tournament week, regional businesses and players came together for a day bigger than golf: 100% of the funds raised at the tournament go toward the Foundation’s services and programs, provided for free to entire families faced with the effects of childhood cancer.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we received and thrilled to have raised $80,000 to benefit families facing the effects of childhood cancer,” said Georgia Moore, the Foundation’s Events and Community Relations Manager. “We cannot thank our volunteers, sponsors and partners enough. Even with the morning rain, we had a great day of golf and community. This success will enable the Foundation to continue providing crucial services and resources to these families."

The Austin Hatcher Foundation’s “Monday Before the Masters” took place for the first time at Sweetens Cove Golf Club, a popular 9-hole course consistently ranked as one of the best Tennessee golf courses. Nine teams played in the morning and eight played in the afternoon, with a lunch reception between flights. Each team played the 9-hole course twice. The winning foursome, players from RAWSO Constructors, finished first out of both flights with a 22-under par score of 50.

“The golf tournament was a great opportunity to support a wonderful cause while also enjoying the competition with my fellow golfers,” said Dylan Stephens, CEO of RAWSO Constructors and tournament participant. “The Foundation's mission to improve the lives of children and families affected by cancer is truly inspiring. On behalf of our team at RAWSO Constructors, we’re truly honored to have been a part of this event and proud to support the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.”

The two other top finishers in the afternoon included the MODUS Build team and the First Bank team. Top finishers from the morning flight included the Reliable Heating and Air team, the Tom White team and the Lodge Cast Iron team.

Lodge Cast Iron was the top sponsor for the tournament. The American cookware factory not only supported the Foundation financially, but also hosted the reception at their museum. Participants enjoyed a lunch at Lodge’s adjacent restaurant, the new Big Bad Breakfast, and were offered free admission to the Lodge Museum of Cast Iron, opened in 2022.

“We are so grateful for the Lodge Cast Iron CEO Mike Otterman and his whole team for their invaluable support and sponsorship for our tournament this year,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation CEO Amy Jo Osborn. “Lodge was instrumental in helping us secure this tournament, and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity and support.”

Other tournament sponsors included Guide On Group, Shaw Industries, the Dustin Mullins Team, CityScope and HealthScope magazine, Reagan Outdoor Advertising, LPGA, Brewer Media, and Chattanooga City Lifestyle magazine.

All proceeds from the tournament went directly to the Austin Hatcher Foundation in their mission to erase the side effects of pediatric cancer and optimize quality of life through essential specialized intervention beginning at the time of a child’s diagnosis and continuing through survivorship. Families of the foundation are provided with services such as Mental and Behavioral Health Therapy, Occupational Therapy, NeuroPsych Testing, Family Programs, and more at absolutely no cost to them.
