Harrison Elementary School Sets New Record with Inspiring Coin Drive for Families Facing Childhood Cancer
  • Harrison Elementary School students hosted their own “Coin Drive” for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Dec. 21, 2023) – Harrison Elementary School's leadership students rallied together with an exceptional fundraising “Coin Drive” for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer (AHF), raising a school-record of $1,479.64 to support families facing childhood cancer.

“We are so proud of our students for organizing such a successful campaign for such a worthy cause,” said Kristina Varela, School Counselor at Harrison Elementary.

The initiative showcased the hard working passion and commitment of the young leaders at Harrison Elementary School, who took the reins to support AHF's mission of providing 100%-free comprehensive, coordinated care to families facing pediatric cancer. The proceeds from this coin drive will contribute to AHF's multifaceted family programs and services, such as Mental and Behavioral Health Therapy, Educational Resources, Occupational Therapy, Music & Art Therapy and more.

“We're incredibly moved and grateful for the extraordinary efforts put forth by the students at Harrison Elementary,” said Rocco Mansueto, Educational Support Navigator at the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “Their enthusiasm and commitment not only help AHF provide invaluable support to families navigating the complexities of pediatric cancer, but also inspire others to give back in unique ways like this. It is amazing to see young kids work together for good causes.”

The success of the Harrison Elementary coin drive stands as a testament to the power of collective action and community support. AHF extends its heartfelt appreciation to the students, faculty and everyone involved in making this initiative a success.

The Austin Hatcher Foundation encourages and welcomes any school, club, team or organization that wishes to host a unique fundraiser to support their cause. From coin drives to lemonade stands to bake sales and give-back games, every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
