New Staff Bring Expertise to the Growing Austin Hatcher Foundation Team

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2022) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer expands their growing team with the addition of three new staff members this month: Melanie Hammontree, Anna Carrington and Georgia Moore.

Melanie Hammontree joins the foundation staff as the new Director of Development.

Hammontree brings experience and passion to the Austin Hatcher Foundation operations staff to fill the much-needed Director of Development position. In this role, Hammontree is responsible for developing and executing the foundation's short- and long-term fundraising plans, managing sponsorships and identifying partners for event campaigns, grants and partnerships. Hammontree joins the AHF staff after serving as the Director of Development of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank for five years.

Anna Carrington is welcomed back to the foundation staff as the new Family Services Coordinator.

After serving as a Child and Family Intern in 2019, Carrington returns to the foundation’s clinical staff as the Family Services Coordinator, where she is tasked with managing and executing enrichment events for families, challenging children in fun educational activities and supervising volunteers for family program needs. Carrington received her Bachelor's in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University and works as the Summer Camp Director of Athens Y Camps: Camp Chattanooga for Girls over the summer.

“I developed a passion for this organization, its families and the mission during my time here as an intern,” said Carrington.  “I look forward to being back to walk along and support families through their journey.”

Thirdly, Georgia Moore joins the staff as Events and Community Relations.

Tasked with managing all the logistics and relations for the many fundraising events that the Austin Hatcher Foundation holds throughout the year, Moore brings communication, organization and interpersonal skills to the growing operations staff. Moore recently graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 2022, after receiving her Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia in 2020.

"I am most excited to join the Austin Hatcher Foundation team to cultivate relationships for such a meaningful and important cause,” said Moore. “I love working with teams and connecting with our community, and this career shift allows me to use some of my organization and planning strengths to execute events and continue the impact for families in our community and beyond."

The Austin Hatcher Foundation’s mission is to erase the effects of pediatric cancer for entire families by providing essential specialized intervention beginning at the time of a child’s diagnosis and continuing through survivorship of the whole family. Families of the foundation are provided with services such as Mental and Behavioral Health Therapy, Occupational Therapy, NeuroPsych Testing, Grief Counseling, Family Programs and more at absolutely no cost to them.
