Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer to Benefit from Kiwanis Fore the Kids Golf Tournament

·       Funds help Foundation provide services to families faced with pediatric cancer

·       Golf Tournament to benefit over a dozen charities that help children and families in the greater Chattanooga area

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 18, 2023) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer has been named as one of the beneficiaries of the Kiwanis Fore the Kids Golf Tournament, which will be held on May 8 at the Ooltewah Club. The tournament is being organized by the Kiwanis Club of Ooltewah-Collegedale, which has been serving the youth of the community for 48 years.

This year's event has already raised over $70,000 before the first ball has even hit off the tee, and the funds will be divided and contributed to more than a dozen fully vetted non-profit organizations that serve the youth and families in the Greater Chattanooga area. The Austin Hatcher Foundation is proud to be among the list of charities that will benefit from the tournament.

“We are grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Ooltewah-Collegedale for selecting us as one of the beneficiaries of this year's golf tournament,” said Melanie Hammontree, Director of Development at the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “It is through partnerships like this that help us provide support for kids facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. The funds we receive from this tournament will help us continue providing essential specialized interventions to children and families affected by pediatric cancer.”

Unlike other fundraisers that serve the needs of the sponsoring organization, the Kiwanis Fore the Kids Golf Tournament raises funds for a broad scope of charities that serve the youth and families in the area, including the Austin Hatcher Foundation, Chamblis Center for Children, Siskin Children’s Institute, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Hamilton County Schools Foundation and more.

The Kiwanis Fore the Kids Golf Tournament still has 60 remaining golfing slots to fill, and the organizers are calling on the community to help them reach their goal. To register for the tournament or to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please visit https://linktr.ee/kiwanisoc. The cost is $175 to play in the tournament, or $600 for a foursome.

The tournament takes place at the Ootlewah Club, located at 7502 Snow Hill Rd. in Ooltewah, Tennessee.  Under new ownership, the Ooltewah Club has recently invested over $5 million into dynamic course updates, upgrades and improvements. This year's event is presented by Team Darmody of Keller Williams Realty for the Kiwanis Club of Ooltewah-Collegedale.

Among the other major top tier sponsors are Gestamp, Walmart, Food City, State Farm, Genesis Investments, Southeastern Container/Coca-Cola, and The Ooltewah Club. Many others are contributing to reach the goal of giving away as much as possible to help these charities supporting children in the area.

A portion of proceeds from the tournament will go directly to the Austin Hatcher Foundation in their mission to erase the side effects of pediatric cancer. The Foundation addresses the unmet need of mental health and well-being for the entire family at the onset of pediatric cancer, and services continue throughout the families’ lifetimes. The Foundation’s Education Advancement Center is the nation's only psychosocial center that offers no-cost, evidence-based mental health services and supportive care to children affected by childhood cancer and their entire family. Families of the Foundation are provided with services such as Mental and Behavioral Health Therapy, Occupational Therapy, NeuroPsych Testing, Family Programs, and more.
