Austin Hatcher Foundation Announces New Family Services Coordinator

University of Alabama Graduate Lauren Kelly Joins Staff as Foundation Continues to Expand

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 22, 2019) – With a background in multiple roles including nonprofit fundraising, event planning, and pre-school education, it’s no surprise that Lauren Kelly is a welcome new addition to the staff at the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.

Kelly is a 2014 University of Alabama graduate, earning a B.S. in Restaurant, Hotel, and Meetings Management and a minor in Business. Prior to joining the foundation, Kelly spent two and a half years teaching pre-school where she developed skills that are vital for the Family Services Coordinator position. She also has extensive volunteer experience in her hometown of Birmingham and was an intern at two different nonprofits where she assisted with fundraising, special event coordination, donation requests, and volunteer management. Both experiences are crucial, as the Family Services Coordinator is required to develop after-school enrichment programs, educational summer camp activities, and plan special monthly events for families to attend.

Kelly and her family relocated from London, England to Chattanooga in January 2019. She has been a part-time volunteer at the foundation since March 2019, assisting with special events and family programs. “I’m honored to join such a special organization, and it’s been wonderful to get to know our children and families during my time as a volunteer,” Kelly said. “Being able to interact with our families helped me realize the long-term impact the foundation is making. I knew it was something I wanted to be part of, and it’s a privilege to be able to serve our families on a daily basis.”

“We’ve been very fortunate to have one of our part-time volunteers transition into this role. Lauren’s personality and background were the perfect fit for this position and her passion for our mission is exceptional,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “Lauren will be an integral part of our team as we continue to expand services for families and patients facing pediatric cancer, both in Chattanooga and across the U.S.”
