The Austin Hatcher Foundation Hosts Blood Drive at Education Advancement Center

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 23, 2022) – The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is partnering with Blood Assurance to host a blood drive at the foundation’s Education Advancement Center. The blood drive will be located at 1705 S. Holtzclaw Ave Chattanooga, TN 37404.

This event will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All donors must register for a donation time at www.bloodassurance.org/AH.

Community members are encouraged to come and donate at the Blood Assurance truck that will be in the Education Advancement Center parking lot. All donors are welcome; a health screening will be run on each donor.

All participants are welcome to enjoy lunch at Off the Grill by Q which will be available in the foundation parking lot. Donors are also encouraged to arrive before their donation time for a guided tour of the foundation’s Education Advancement Center.

This event is in honor of the families of the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. In many cases, donated blood is a critical part of pediatric cancer treatment, and families of the foundation have experienced this firsthand.

“Many of the cancers faced by the children we treat at the Austin Hatcher Foundation attack bone marrow, resulting in the need for healthy red blood cells and platelets to support their immune system and allow the body to receive the critical treatments to fight and survive cancer,” said foundation Director Tammy Gipson. “So many times, our hands are tied in helping pediatric cancer patients, but this time, your donation of blood will provide the lifeline that is so valuable to help them in their fight for survival.”

For every person that donates during this event, Blood Assurance will donate $5 to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. All funds that are donated go directly toward furthering the foundation’s mission of erasing the effects of pediatric cancer and optimizing each child and family member’s quality of life.

All therapies at the foundation are provided by a licensed, experienced, and friendly clinical staff that create specialized intervention plans for each patient and family. Services provided at the foundation include Mental and Behavioral Health Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Industrial Arts Therapy, Family Programming, and more.
