Austin Hatcher Foundation to Debut 18th Car Build, 2025 Factory Five Type 65 Coupe, at SEMA Show

CHATTANOOGA, TN (November 3, 2025) - The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is proud to announce its 18th custom car build: the 2025 Factory Five Type 65 Coupe. This marks the Foundation’s fifth collaboration with Factory Five Racing in a longstanding tradition that raises national awareness and vital support for families facing pediatric cancer.

The Coupe will make its exclusive debut at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas before going live for auction on Bring a Trailer later this year. All proceeds from the auction will directly support the Foundation’s mission of providing comprehensive care and services to families facing pediatric cancer.

Heritage Meets Innovation

Inspired by the legendary Daytona Coupe, this Type 65 Coupe blends classic automotive design with modern performance. The original Daytona Coupe, designed by Peter Brock for Carroll Shelby in the 1960s, was created to challenge dominant Ferraris in international racing, pairing lightweight design with powerful engines for record-breaking performance. This 2025 interpretation honors that legacy while incorporating contemporary engineering and luxury features.

“Watching children and families work together on this car throughout the year is truly inspiring,” says Amy Jo Osborn, CEO of the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “This hands-on experience is more than just building a car—it’s a unique therapeutic approach that strengthens family bonds, builds confidence, and teaches skills that extend far beyond the garage. At the same time, it supports preserving automotive culture, fostering education in automotive skills, and inspiring a new generation of enthusiasts. We are incredibly grateful to Factory Five Racing and the dozens of partners who made this year’s build possible—your support allows these families to thrive, even in the face of pediatric cancer.”

Performance & Craftsmanship Highlights

  • Powertrain: Ford Performance Coyote Gen 3 engine paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission
  • Suspension & Wheels: Ridetech air suspension and custom Schott Performance wheels for precision handling and bold stance
  • Interior & Technology: Medium blue Reno leather interior, custom Sage Interiors dash and switch panels, advanced front and rear camera system by Metra
  • Finish: Custom light metallic blue, a Sikkens Paint product by AkzoNobel, balancing the iconic Daytona Coupe silhouette with modern aesthetic flair

A Hands-On, Therapeutic Experience

The Coupe was brought to life with the help of pediatric cancer patients and their families through the Foundation’s unique Industrial Arts Therapy Program. By engaging children in STEM-based trades and hands-on building projects, the program addresses coordination, learning, and behavioral challenges often caused by childhood cancer and its treatment, while providing therapeutic outlets, skill-building opportunities, and opportunities for family bonding.

Hatch’s Garage: A Legacy of Impact

This build is part of Hatch’s Garage, a one-of-a-kind initiative where families collaborate on custom vehicle builds and restorations. Previous vehicles, built or restored through the program, are on display on the Hatch’s Garage website and have been auctioned to raise critical funds for pediatric cancer families. Every car, whether custom-built or donated, directly supports the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s mission to empower families to thrive during and after cancer.
