‘CELLARbration’ Wine Tasting Fundraiser Set for March 1 to Benefit Austin Hatcher Foundation for Ped

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2019)  - The annual ‘CELLARbration’ wine tasting and fundraising event for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer is set for this Friday, March 1, at The Wheelhouse in Chattanooga.

The CELLARbration will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and only 150 will be sold for this unique event that turns a night of wine tasting into a competition, with the winner taking home a new “cellar” of wine valued at more than $1,200. This event will benefit the foundation’s mission to erase the effects of pediatric cancer for young patients and their family members.

The event will be held at The Wheelhouse (1216 E. Main Street) who is supporting the event alongside many local businesses including Chili Pepper Ranch, Hennen’s, EPB Fiber Optics, Cyclebar, Four Bridges Family Dentistry, Brewer Media, Steve & Cathy Snyder, Athens Distributing Company of Tennessee, Plainview Outdoor Advertising, Entercom, HealthScope Magazine and CityScope Magazine.

The competition will consist of one or two people, with each team bringing three bottles of the same red wine to the event. Two bottles will be covered and numbered for the tasting, while the third bottle will go into the "cellar." The cellar, already stocked with wine valued at $500, will grow in value as each team adds their third bottle.

Guests will enjoy the wines and hors d'oeuvres provided by Chili Pepper Ranch and Hennen’s, while voting for their favorite wine. At the end of the night, the team whose wine wins the popular vote will go home with the entire cellar of wine that will likely approach more than $1,200 in value.

This year’s CELLARbration features some “twists” to the wine-tasting competition. Teams can purchase a “plonk” – meaning a “less-desirable” wine – to help their chances of winning. Plonks will be sold for $20 with each purchase giving a team one additional vote, and teams may purchase up to three plonk votes.

There will also be a silent auction throughout the evening to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation. The silent auction will have more than 50 items ranging from vacations to beauty products, shopping sprees, wine baskets, and more.

“CELLARbration is always a fun event with a gratifying response from the community,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “We look forward to a successful event that will help us kick off our 2019 fundraising calendar, and we’re excited to open the event up for more guests with our new larger venue.”
