Materials:

Wooden Hexagons, watercolor paint and brushes, canvas painted black and rubber cement

Question to ask:

What is a hexagon? How can colors be blended to make new colors?

4.PS4: Waves and their Application in Technologies for Information Transfer 2) Describe how the colors of available light sources and the bending of light waves determine what we see

K.G.A.2: Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.

Simple Science:
  • Primary colors can be mixed to make secondary colors
  • Figure with six straight sides and angles.

This activity would be appropriate completed by the following disciplines:

Occupational Therapy, LCSW, Family Services, Industrial Art

Instructions:

Paint hexagons using watercolor paint, blending colors. Encourage students to paint abstractly. When hexagons have dried, cement them to the canvas, leaving a ¼ inch space between each hexagon.
